TURF CARE AND MAINTENANCE

How to maintain and care for your artificial grass

Artificial turf’s low-maintenance makes it an attractive landscaping option, but it still requires some regular maintenance to maintain its durability and quality over time. Based on your specific situation, the amount of maintenance required will vary. It might take a little more work to clean your landscape if you have pets, children, trees, or live in a dusty area. By following our turf care tips you can help prolong the beautiful look of your artificial lawn.

CLEARING SURFACE DEBRIS

Use a rake with plastic bristles or a leaf blower to clear off fallen leaves, branches, and other debris that may land on top of your artificial grass. If you are using a leaf blower, avoid pointing/aiming a leaf blower directly into the turf to avoid infill scattering. If your leaf blower gets very hot, do not place on the artificial turf as it may cause a melt spot.

BROOM

Power brooms make it easy to freshen up trampled areas, but using a push broom with stiff bristles and a little bit of elbow grease will work too. To stand up the blades of turf, it is usually best to sweep against the fibers. This will help your synthetic turf maintain a clean and fresh look. Note: (It’s easier to stand up the fibers with the heat from the sun)

INTRODUCE WATER TO YOUR TURF

Over time your artificial turf may start to collect dust or pollen. Especially if your yard is located in a rural area. We recommended gently spraying down your grass periodically with water to remove it.

CLEANING UP AFTER YOUR FURRY FRIEND

Solid waste left by your pets may be cleaned up just as easily on artificial grass as it would on real grass. Pooper scoopers and plastic bags work great! Make sure to rinse the area thoroughly after you pick up the solid waste. We recommend using a turf deodorizer like Simple Green to further eliminate any unpleasant odors caused by pets.

WEEDS

It is possible for weeds to grow in artificial turf, but they are easy to remove if they are removed immediately. Weeds initially grow on top of the surface and around the edges, so they can be pulled out by hand or sprayed with a pet-friendly weed killer. You should perform a spot test on a small area of your turf and wait one day to see if any stains appear.
